For example: a white T-shirt better be a 1; on the other hand, a leather jacket or a pair of blue jeans rated 3 or even 4 may be at advantage over comparable items rated 1. (Worn-in jeans and / or leather look better; many stores charge exorbitant prices for this well-worn look.)
