The capitol of the ancient Inca empire was Cuzco (in translation: "the Navel of the World") Among other marvels of the Inca civilization proudly stands Machu Picchu, Nazca with its perplexing giant-scale drawings and Lake Titicaca with its legends. Spanish conquistadors destroyed the Inca society, many of its most precious cultural achievements and robbed the country of its riches both material (gold and silver reserves) as well as cultural all in the name of converting "uncivilized" nation to Christianity.... Today's day, the life of Inca Indians of Peru has little to do with their sterling and prosperous past. Even though they still constitute the majority of Peru, they've been assigned a secondary role in political, social and economical matters. We are glad to be able to bring to you the art of contemporary Inca Indians and hopefully - even in the smallest way - help them improve their lives.
